Number Buddies · Privacy policy

A maths game built to be safe for families.

Last updated 15 October 2026

Number Buddies is a maths game for children aged 3–10. We built it to be safe for families, and we keep data collection to the bare minimum needed to save progress and run friendly leaderboards. This policy explains exactly what that means.

The short version
  • No ads, and no third-party advertising SDKs.
  • No analytics or behavioural tracking.
  • No account, email, phone number or real name required to play.
  • No access to contacts, photos, microphone, camera or precise location.
  • We never sell or share personal data.

What we collect

  • An anonymous device ID. The app signs in anonymously (Google Firebase Anonymous Authentication). This produces a random identifier that isn't linked to any personal account, email or name. It's used to save progress and to show leaderboards.
  • Gameplay data. Stars, levels completed, streaks and star totals, so progress is saved and leaderboards can be ranked.
  • World leaderboard name. A randomly generated, made-up name (for example "Brave Comet 214"). It contains no personal information.
  • Family groups (optional). If a grown-up chooses to create or join a family group, a child-chosen display name and buddy appearance are shared only with members of that parent-approved group — never on public or world leaderboards.

What we do not collect

We do not knowingly collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, precise location, contacts, photos, device advertising identifiers, or any data for advertising. Firebase Analytics and advertising-ID collection are disabled in the app.

Where data is stored

Data is stored using Google Firebase (Firestore and Anonymous Authentication) on Google's secure infrastructure. See Google's Firebase privacy information.

Children's privacy

Number Buddies is designed for children and built to comply with the Google Play Families policy, the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and GDPR-K. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Settings and family actions are protected by a grown-up check.

Data retention & deletion

Because the only identifier is anonymous, data is not tied to a person. A parent or guardian may request deletion of their device's data, or of a family group, by contacting us at the email below, and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes we will update this page and the "Last updated" date above.
